Mr Valentine endured a lot
To cause his blood red heart to smart
As he was pummeled, beaten and stoned
……..Still it kept pulsating
Although quite bruised
………..Still it throbbed and ached
And kept its shape
Encased inside his bones
This blood red heart refused to die
Beating faintly, but beating with force
They couldn’t bear (of course)
To share this miracle of love and life
Defying death before their very eyes
Torn and scorned
They shouted
They cried
“This heart must cease!!
We must destroy this red love beast!!”
So they took up and axe and severed his neck
Causing the desired effect
That eventually bled
Mr Valentine’s blood red heart dry.
